The 10 Best On-Piste Restaurants In Courchevel
When you picture your perfect luxury ski holiday, do you imagine dining on a delicious meal, with incredible mountainous views surrounding you, right on the slopes? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
We have put together a list of our favourite restaurants that are right on Courchevel’s ski slopes.
From fine dining, to incredible aprés, to authentic brasseries to Italian dishes on the mountain, Courchevel’s dining scene has everything covered. You just need to decide which one to try first.
Here’s The Chalet Edits 10 Best On-Piste Restaurants In Courchevel
Cap Horn – This is the oldest mountain restaurant in Courchevel 1850, dating back to 1954. It is the ultimate sun trap thanks to its magnificent south-facing terrace. This is one of the places to be seen in Courchevel and is a must for those who love gastronomy. Experience refined gastronomy with a clever mix of dishes inspired by the land and sea.
La Cave Des Creux – Perched at 2100 meters, in an old shepherd’s hut, this lunch spot is hard to beat with its panoramic view of Mont Blanc. We love the authentic chalet décor, as well as the exquisite mountain food. La Cave des Creux serves a refined brasserie menu with regional specialities and high-quality produce.

La Chalet De Pierres – Something of an institution, La Chalet De Pierres is found right on the Verdons slopes. Offering a large range of fine seafood, meat and Savoyard dishes, this historic chalet-style restaurant boasts incredible views of The Three Valleys from its terrace area. We recommend getting cosy by the fire inside on a snowy day – bliss!

La Soucoupe – Discover the perfect place to enjoy the most delicious gastronomy while taking in the most impressive views of Courchevel. Located at the top of La Loze, this romantically rustic restaurant serves up quality cuisine with meats cooked on the open fire. And with good wines and quality champagne, what more could you want?

Bagatelle – New in 2020, Bagatelle has already earned a great reputation thanks to its panoramic deck. Experience a contemporary restaurant that brings the flavours of the French Riviera to your plate. And the best part? When you finish your meal, grab another glass of white wine and join in as the party gets started for the afternoon.

La Casserole – Situated in Courchevel Moriond, La Casserole’s dark interior is moody and inviting at the same time. This restaurant celebrates farming in a totally luxurious way, with dishes that will sharpen the palate of the most distinguished diner. Imagine fire-grilled meat, 7-hour slow-cooked lamb and a homemade dessert buffet.

Le Mille Sabords – This is the only Italian restaurant on the slopes. It’s entirely unique with delicious Italian dishes that will be sure to fuel you for the rest of the day. Owned by the luxurious Maison Tournier brand, the interior celebrates life under the ocean. Plus the terrace is a beautiful spot for a long lunch in the sun.

Le Bel Air – Le Bel Air is the hidden gem of lunch spots in Courchevel. Found in the quieter Courchevel Moriond, it is accessible to non-skiers at the top of the Arionondaz gondola which leaves from the heart of the village below. There is always an excellent plat du jour, and the terrace is a great place for a few glasses of rose.

Le Bouc Blanc – This is a busy spot on the La Tania side of the mountain which is well worth booking on the busy weeks. It comes alive in the warmer spring months with its music playing and large terrace. It is family-run, with fabulous food and great service, even when busy.

Pomme de Pin – Looking for something a little different? Le Pomme de Pin Hotel offers a welcoming sunny deck at the bottom of the Stade. You can expect traditional local specialities, as well as seafood, all served on a large terrace with views of the mountains and the slopes.

What is Luxury Chalet Catering Like in Morzine?
Welcome to the future of Luxury Chalet Catering in Morzine
Every once and a while you come across chalet catering that isn’t chalet catering at all, it’s boarding Michelin star style food. Luckily for me I visit a group of chalets in Morzine who have the most talented chefs in the business. The days of the classic chalet staff food have gone – soup for starter, fondue for main, apple tart for pud. Since covid there has been a big shift, professional chefs being employed to wow guests. And I think the chefs love it just as much as the guests.I stayed in the stunning Chalet Doyen in Morzine, we arrived and once we’d got over the outdoor hot tub, sauna, private bar, wine cellar and demanded they demonstrate the rising/falling swimming pool (very cool), we sat down for some delicious afternoon tea pastries.Buzzing with excitement for what was going to come later we explored some of the other chalets we were lucky enough to see around including the Chalet Chardon, and the Self-Catered Kerasia where you can take advantage of meals delivered straight to your chalet door.Chalet Wilkids. Wilkids is positioned next to a small forest which makes you feel like you are tucked away in the woods. The large hot tub, yoga/fitness studio and spa are all there for you to enjoy after a long day on the mountain. The chef is there to spoil you rotten. The Chardon is HUGE, the open plan design and split levels give so much space that it could easily fit more than it sleeps. Not only here but in the cinema room which I would challenge anyone not to fall fast asleep in! This gives a great area for kids to chill or let off steam in at the end of the day. This group of chalets have designed a very clever way of working. A central professional kitchen prepares food for all the smaller chalets, guaranteeing the standard of the food as well as offering food delivery service for all of the self-catered. Whilst the larger catered chalets have their own professional chef. This is the best way I have ever seen a chalet company work, food wastage is kept to a minimum, food standards are kept high and it seems to be a trend that is spreading to offer food delivery service. What could be more perfect than having maximum flexibility for your stay?

Is No.14 the best large catered luxury chalet in Verbier?
Last month I was lucky enough to spend 2 nights in the stunning and newly refurbished No.14, Verbier. This huge property can sleep 26 guest over 13 bedrooms, or if families stay there are also family bedrooms to accomodate more. This offers one of the largest luxury chalets in Verbier
We arrived in Verbier later in the afternoon for our stay in No.14, tired from our flights and transfer. Entering through the huge heavy cast iron front door, we were greeted by a professional chalet team who ask us to don the exceptionally comfy chalet slippers. As soon as those slippers were on and we saw the fireplace, heard the music playing and the word “cocktail?” we all instantly relaxed.
For a large group, there is so much space, lots of comfy seating which has been cleverly thought out throughout to give quiet spots looking over the valley, more social seating by the fireplace as well as 2 separate dining areas. On both nights the fire-pit was lit and we sat out for post dinner digestif.No.14 is lucky enough to have one of the top Valais chef’s Linda Soderlund. She talked us through our first evening meal, going through where she had sourced the produce and how her influences from her native Sweden has influenced her menu. The food and wine choices were impeccable and so well matched.No.14 Chef – Linda Soderlund preparing dinner serviceNo.14 Dessert – Creme Anglaise with SorbetNo.14 Main Course – Pork 5 ways : Pork Loin, Pork Croquette, Roasted Pork Belly, Crackling and Black Pudding with Pickled CauliflowerWe made the most of a fully day of the sun the next day by exploring the world famous Verbier, 4 Valley Ski Area. As we only had a day we focussed our skiing to Mont Fort where luckily for us the freeride championships was on. This is an amazing spectacle and one of the 2 huge freeride competitions that takes place in Verbier along with the Verbier Extreme. Note to self, take binoculars next time!
We skied down the Vallon d’Arbi (one of Verbier Itinerary un-pisted routes) to take us round to the Savoleyres side. This ski area is a must for your first days skiing. On Sunday or Monday, these pistes haven’t been discovered, the majority head straight up on the Medran. You will usually find yourself one of the very few on beautiful tree lined empty wide slopes.
We had a very late lunch at Carrefour, yum! Few bottles of Rose down and we skied down the La Rouge Piste and we found ourselves only 3 minutes walk away from the Door of No.14. However, if your legs are a little tired or you want to have a few more drinks in the Le Rouge Bar, make the most of the 24hr driver service.
Back at the Chalet, we were ready to try the spa on the ground floor. Never have i seen such a huge sauna. I wonder how many people could fit in there? The Hammam and Finnish cold water dipping poo was in competition with the sauna in terms of size! In between the 2 we had the pool, which has a state of the art jacuzzi with multi station water features to massage, relax and pummel. We were bought a glass of Champagne or a cocktail and there is also a spa bar which was loaded with beers and soft drink options. Let me tell you, it was hard to leave. Our second night we met again for pre-dinner cocktails (mine a hazelnut espresso martini). We then sat down in the second dining area, felt like going to a different restaurant! Again Linda described her excitement at find such a fantastic cheese producer and how she sources the meat. We were all massively inspired! For a little theatre she told us instead of the meat being calved at the table she likes to calve the vegetarian option! A really nice gesture. The meal melted in the mouth, we didn’t want it to end.matched.No.14 Spa Facilities – SaunaNo.14 Spa facilities – Indoor PoolNo.14 Spa Facilities – Massage RoomAs far as luxury chalets in Switzerland go, No.14 has got to be one of the top for service. It couldn’t have been any better. the facilities are second to none, the space in the bedrooms especially in the suites are huge which makes this one of the best Chalets in Verbier for Large Groups.
We loved it.Booking Contact Details:Call: +44 (0) 208 133 1130E-mail: [email protected]

What Makes an Ultimate Luxury Chalet?
Luxury – It is a word we all know well but what does it really mean? And when it comes to ski chalets, what makes an ultimate luxury chalet?
With over 14 years, and first-hand experience of what’s on offer, here at The Chalet Edit, we believe that there are a number of factors that make a chalet truly luxurious.
RESORT
Certain resorts have a luxurious edge. Whether that is thanks to the number of designer shops in the town center, the infamous Michelin star restaurants, or the clientele that have started to call alpine resorts their home. In exclusive, in-demand and prestigious ski resorts you will be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Top of the list will always be Courchevel 1850 and Verbier, or venture to Crans-Montana – a favorite of Roger Moore, or head to Gstaad, the playground of those who want to be seen.
LOCATION
To us, luxury means privacy, whilst still being in amongst the action. Why would you want to stay in a luxury chalet, if it was located miles away from the ski slopes? Ski-in/ski-out is the ultimate perk, making a luxury chalet a cut above the rest. Your private luxury chalet can be positioned right on the slopes, away from the crowds and with incredible alpine views surrounding you. To us, this is what makes a chalet unforgettable.
SERVICE
All of the services of a 5-star hotel served to you in utter privacy in your luxury retreat on the slopes. Ultimate luxury chalets have a team of staff to take care of your every need 24/7 to ensure that you have the best luxury ski holiday. Nothing is too much trouble. From an in-resort concierge team, private drivers, childcare, massage therapists and butlers, everyone has been expertly trained, so you can expect the best. And that is before we mention food…
FACILITIES
Luxury ski chalets have evolved to become more unique, more stylish and more luxurious, so year after year the bar is being set higher and higher. From designer furniture to one-off art pieces, to the kind of facilities you would expect to find in a 5-star hotel, these chalets bring a whole new standard of excellence on an impressive scale. Think of them like a ‘Mega Yacht in the snow’. Offering wellness areas to rival most spas, indoor climbing walls, state-of-the-art cinema rooms, nightclubs and more – if you can dream it, we can find it.…

The Best Luxury Ski Resorts For Winter 2023/2024
Glitz, glamour and snowy backdrops. Luxury is in no short supply in the mountains, with ski resorts bursting with luxury chalets, Michelin-star restaurants, and designer shops. No longer just reserved for adventure seekers, the mountains are earning a reputation as a glamorous destination, and here at The Chalet Edit, we love this. Why not combine skiing down the mountain with shopping in Dior? Or stopping after ski school into a world-renowned restaurant for lunch? Or stay in award-winning chalets that have previously welcomed royals?
Here are the best luxury ski resorts for the 2023/24 season. Prepare to be amazed.
Courchevel 1850 needs little introduction. Earning a reputation as one of the most luxurious ski resorts, this alpine village has glamour and wealth in abundance. If you really want the true Courchevel experience, land by private jet at Courchevel’s Altiport, right on the slopes. It’s one way to make an entrance.
Whilst most people come to Courchevel for the skiing, thanks to its easy access to the Three Valleys, and the high number of luxury ski-in/ski-out chalets, off the slopes there is plenty to keep you busy. There are flagship stores here for most of the world’s leading brands in fashion, jewellery and sporting goods. Chanel on the Slopes does have a ring to it! And foodies will delight. Courchevel fine dining restaurants hold an incredible 14 stars between them. For such a small town, it is impressive the number of world-class gastronomic experiences on offer. Be sure to try 1947 at Cheval Blanc, a 3-star Michelin restaurant that needs to be on your bucket list. It is a small intimate restaurant and is the ultimate taste of exclusivity in Courchevel.

Whilst more relaxed than Courchevel, Val-d’Isère is no less luxurious and continues to be one of the most popular luxury ski resorts. Sitting at 1800m, Val-d’Isère is home to one of the longest winter seasons in Europe, attracting international visitors wanting to discover the vibrant Espace-Killy ski area. And thanks to the high number of ultra-luxury ski-in/ski-out chalets, skiing and opulence go hand and hand here.
But what Val-d’Isère does best is après-ski. And it all begins with the infamous La Folie Douce which has been amazing people since 1980. Drink champagne, and dance as the sun sets, all before returning to your luxury chalet. Bliss. And if you are looking for drinks by the fire, head to La Table de l’Ours, one of Val-d’Isère’s Michelin-starred restaurant.

Iconic thanks to the Matterhorn, the best thing about Zermatt is the level of privacy it offers. Arrive by train (or helicopter) and step into another world. A picture-perfect ski resort, with luxury touches everywhere you look. Stroll along the Bahnhofstrasse and you will discover a top-class shopping experience. Based in the Swiss Alps, this resort is the place to come if you need a new watch, as there is no shortage of premier watch boutiques.
For those seeking culinary excellence, Zermatt will not disappoint. After Seven in the Backstage Hotel, Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, Ristorante Capri in the Mont Cervin Palace, Brasserie Uno and Aroleid Restaurant have all been awarded a Michelin Star and should be added to your must-visit list.

Popular with royals and celebrities, Verbier will always make the list of the best luxury ski resorts. This prestigious alpine village is home to some of the most luxurious ski chalets – think expansive spas, private cinemas, prime locations, and expertly trained staff. But away from your home away from home, there is so much to discover.
The apres ski in Verbier is some of the best across the Alps and certainly in Switzerland. Perched on the edge of the mountain at Ruinettes, Ice Cube hosts a DJ on the terrace most afternoons. And if you have one too many glasses of champagne, you can hop on the nearby Medran gondola home. The infamous Le Rouge après bar and restaurant should not be missed. Find a spot on the rooftop bar and dance away to the resident DJ.
And if you don’t want the night to end yet, The Farm Club is the place for you. A Verbier institution since the 1970s, here decadence will welcome you the moment you step through the doors.

One of the most luxurious and unique ski chalets in the Alps. Chalet Lhotse is a rare jewel and beautifully glamorous in every way. This is a place you can go and live for a week with no fun boundaries. The indoor bar is bound to delight, especially when Champagne is served on tap, but one of our favourite features is the bath which is made of solid stone. It was put in the chalet and walls were built around it. Talk about a feature piece!

Chalet Marco Polo – Sleeps 10 – 14
This luxury Val-d’Isere chalet has to be seen to be believed. Like some kind of Alpine grotto, Marco Polo gives off a bit of a Swinging Sixties feel – you could picture Austin Powers feeling right at home here. And Chalet Marco Polo is next-level luxury – a private chauffeur is at your disposal as is a professional chef, and you’ll have an indoor pool and jacuzzi, massage and game rooms, fitness centre, wine cellar and even your own fromagerie.

Plus, you peer down to view the extraordinary underwater Perspex window which directly overlooks the cinema room.

Chalet Inoko – Sleeps 12 + 2
Looking a little more home-from-home, than 007-chic, Chalet Inoko has its style that takes its influence from the surrounding nature (some of the lights are designed to look like clouds). The stone and wood features work together to create a traditional feel, but once you are inside this luxury Val-d’Isere chalet, everything you could dream of is here. Outside on the terrace, complete with a large sunken hot tub, features a generous seating area with a fire-pit. The wellness setting continues as you walk downstairs. Chalet La Grange – Sleeps 8 – 9
Named after its majestic cathedral ceilings Chalet La Grange is a stunning luxury ski chalet. It is one of several new build chalets which make up the Mountain Hamlet development from the 5-star Hotel Blizzard. Within this mountain hamlet, there are five luxury chalets as well as a restaurant and bar – a unique concept offering unique services. As you would expect from a luxury chalet in Val-d’Isere, there are incredible facilities that will make it hard to ever make it out onto the slopes. But with modern touches aplenty. The standout feature of the chalet is its huge cinema room, equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and comfortable seating. There is nowhere better to watch your favourite movie!

Chalet Machapuchare – Sleeps 14 + 1
Exceptional is the best way to describe Chalet Machapuchare. This is an opulent and spacious luxury chalet, where there is room for everyone. Fitness fanatics will delight here. Keep ski-fit in the beautifully designed gym, or perhaps head to the swimming pool built into the rock, with its own ‘living wall’ and of course jet system to ensure a good swim. Relaxing is also at the heart of this luxury catered chalet, with huge sofas, a beautiful bar to enjoy a drink at, and a cinema room with bespoke built soundproofing and seating. But our favourite place has to be the outdoor hot tub to gaze at some of the best views in Val-d’Isere. A glass of Champagne is encouraged.

Chalet Face a Face – Sleeps 12 + 2
This is a unique and sumptuous property, where the level of craftsmanship throughout is second to none. Chalet Face a Face is a beautiful luxury ski chalet in Val-d’Isere, boasting an idyllic ski-in/ski-out position, and views of the piste and surrounding mountains. The novelty of watching skiers pass by will never wear off. Very few chalets can boast an entire floor dedicated to spa facilities, and Chalet Face a Face does just that. Welcome to the tranquil spa area. With an indoor swimming pool, steam shower, spacious sauna plus massage and yoga area, the spa is the ideal place to indulge in some well-earned self-care. It has been beautifully finished with a combination of aged wood and stone, creating a haven of relaxation.

It is one of our favourite sights. Seeing a tiny tot having their first lesson on the slopes – nothing is cuter. But it made us here at The Chalet Edit ask the question, what are the best luxury ski resorts for skiing with kids?
From short transfer times, designated beginner zones, extra activities within resorts and of course, luxury family-friendly chalets, there is a lot to consider. You want your family ski holiday to be perfect and we are here to help.
We have picked the best family ski resorts for your next luxury ski holiday. And don’t worry, we’re here to take care of all the fiddly extras, so you can enjoy quality time together.

Courchevel 1850
We constantly get asked if Courchevel 1850 good for families? The answer is yes! Don’t be fooled by the glamorous reputation of Courchevel 1850, it is one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in France. It has earned the highest rating of ‘Famille Plus’ thanks to its Village des Enfants. This is the largest enclosed children’s only ski area in the world. There are magic carpets, Drago gondola, tree-lined runs, ice tunnels, cartoon characters and a snow garden. What’s more, all of the nursery areas (in each of the villages) have drag lifts you can use for free – no lift pass is required. From Courchevel 1850, there are also several green runs which are designated ‘Easy Rider’ runs off the Verdons gondola, for when the little ones are ready to progress.
Family ski holidays to Courchevel are a delight thanks to the family-friendly activities in the resort too, such as the Aquamotion centre with waterslides, and family toboggan runs down to the next village. Everything is linked by a free shuttle bus, or your luxury Courchevel ski chalet will have a private driver service.

Morzine
Morzine is proud of its Famille Plus status, which it was awarded for excellence in catering to families with kids. And from the moment you arrive, you will see why. This relaxed ski resort puts families first and each of the luxury ski holidays focuses on kids too.
In Morzine, there’s the Penguin Park at the top of the Pleney lift with tunnels, jumps, and mini slaloms, where young children will be able to get their ski legs. The Morzine Les Gets ski area has plenty of easy greens and blues, perfect for ski lessons. And for the more confident young skiers and snowboarders, head to the Lil’ Stash in Avoriaz.
Besides skiing, kids will love sledging and there’s a whole slope dedicated to it at the bottom of the Crusaz chairlift. Or take them for a ride on the vintage merry-go-round located in the square next to the tourist office. The indoor swimming pool is great for a white out and the outdoor ice rink is always popular with families.

Val-d’Isère
Val-d’Isère has invested time and money into being a great ski resort for kids. From easy access to the kid’s ski areas, modern ski lift infrastructure, endless luxury family-friendly ski chalets and in-resort activities, we love Val-d’Isère for families.
The main nursery ski area for children and beginners is at the bottom of the Solaise lift, and it’s also where most of the ski schools meet up. There is also a nursery area with a free lift in the village of La Daille. When the children are ready to progress, at the top of the Bellvarde ski area you’ll find long green runs on wide rolling pistes.
In the resort, there is an outdoor ice skating rink right in the centre of town, as well as the Sports Centre which is home to an indoor swimming pool. Our favourite post-ski lesson activity is definitely the dedicated sledging zone at the bottom of the Solaise lifts by the Savonnette lift.

Meribel has gone above and beyond with their after-ski activities. There is a brand new adventure luge track called Mission Black Forest – a 3km adrenaline-fuelled run for the over 12s that’s open every afternoon. The Yeti Park is a fun snow park specially designed for little ones, plus there is an Inuit Village, where you’ll find children’s entertainers, a climbing web, swings and games.
