One easy way to carve yourself out some more time so that you can get carving the turkey or the piste (see what we did there?!) is to order your kit in advance online. We know online clothing purchases can be tricky but trust us Winternational take size guides, product descriptions and product imagery really seriously. Plus they area only a phone call or an email away and would love to help you find your perfect ski wear this Winter.

So let us jump on in and suggest some ways you can look good on the slopes this winter so you’ll have more time to relax.

    Colour is cool

Ski wear doesn’t have to be about the blacks. Colour is in, with some beautiful colour pops in unexpected ways. From reds to pinks, to blues and whites, you can make your selection based on the colours you know work for you.

Hida in red comes with a black belt and a gold belt for you to switch it up.

Bring a splash of sunshine to the slopes if yellow is your thing.

    Prints Charming

The animal print isn’t going away and you can see on our website we’ve tons of wonderful prints for you to fall in love with. With leopard prints to Pucci style swirls, there is a lot to choose from.

Roar down the ski slopes in these leopard print pants!

Bring back the 70’s with these retro inspired ski pants.

    Ski suits to suit everyone

Gone are the days of power ranger style neon ski suits. Ours are more subtle but no less eye-catching. From skinny and slinky, to powerful and exciting, our ski suits are warm, ideal for layering or wearing alone to own the slopes.

The Phoenix in Island Green, a khaki inspired muted tone that works on all colourings.

Cougar – wear if you dare.

    Black Run!

So if you have to gear yourself up for a black run, then look no further. Our black ski gear will help you feel and look your best and most stylish, if not your most brave. Nearly all black ski wear nowadays is made from Schoeller WB-400 – a waterproof, windproof stretch fabric that looks amazing, moves with you as you ski and keeps you cosy too.

  • Family Activities in Val d’Isere

When you think of the world’s top ski resorts, it’s difficult not to put Val d’Isere up there.  Incredible skiing combined with some of the best ski holiday chalets, restaurants and après the Alps has to offer.

For families, Val d’Isere does not disappoint either. As well as having an excellent array of slopes to suit all abilities, and a nursery slope right in the heart of the village, there are plenty of family friendly luxury chalets and everything from babysitters to private nannies and a large village creche with brilliant facilities.

There are also a great choice of ski schools offering snow kindergarten and ski school classes from the age of three years.  High on the list is Oxygène, recognised internationally as one of the best children’s ski schools in the Alps and dividing lessons and groups by ability and age, teaching solely in English and keeping group sizes small.

Aside from skiing and when not enjoying your Val d’Isere luxury chalet there are plenty of things for families to do off the slopes to keep children of all ages entertained.

Click here for our complete Val d’Isere Resort Guide, including information on skiing with children, where to ski as a beginner and our top three mountain and in-resort restaurants and Val d’Isere ski schools.

Don’t forget our friendly in-house concierge team can arrange any of these fantastic family friendly activities alongside your Val d’Isere luxury chalet holiday.

Here’s The Chalet Edits pick of the best ‘Family Activities in Val d’Isere’.
VISIT THE FARM – Take the family into the Manchet valley and discover the Ferme de l’Adroit.  The 30 dairy cows are milked daily at 5.30pm and you can buy some of the delicious cheeses they produce on site. There is also a restaurant.
GRAB A MILKSHAKE – Hidden at the back of the Quicksilver shop is a Roxy Quicksilver Café & Restaurant.  With a fun, young and relaxed atmosphere, this American diner serves food such as burgers, wraps, milkshakes and ice-cream deserts.  Open 7 days a week for brunch, lunch and dinner – from 09.00 to 22.00.

GET ACTIVE IN THE AQUA SPORTS CENTRE – The swimming pool and sports centre in Val d’Isere (The Centre Aqua Sportif) offer swimming, climbing, gym/fitness, squash, indoor football, volleyball, a children’s play area and more.  It is split into five main areas – Beach World, Spa World, Sports World, Well-being World and Lounge World. There is something for everyone!

*Entry to the swimming pool is often included if you have a ski pass so it is worth checking to see if this is the case when you buy your pass*

GO ICE-KARTING – Trade in the skis for wheels and go-kart on ice!  Head to La Daille – just outside Val d’Isere – where, hidden in the valley and surrounded by rivers and fir trees, is the ice-karting circuit.  The track accommodates a variety of unique ice experiences from learning how to drive a piste-basher to driving on snow and ice in a controlled fashion, whilst families will love racing one another around the ice-karting track.
GET YOUR SKATES ON – Enjoy the beautiful mountain views whilst playing around on some skates.  The outdoor ice-rink in Val d’Isere, just on the nursery slope, is open from 15:00-20:00 every day and is a fun thing to do with the family.
TOBOGGAN ON THE NURSERY SLOPES – Tobogganing is great fun for all the family and the Val d’Isere nursery slopes right in the centre of town provide the perfect setting for this. Sledges are easily hired from the local ski hire shops surrounding the nursery slope area.
TRY YOUR HAND AT 10 PIN BOWLING – Strike it lucky with a trip to the miniature bowling alley located in the stunning 5* Hotel Les Barmes de l’Ours, perfect for snowy days. Booking in advance is required and can be organised by The Chalet Edit in-house concierge team.

  • Modern Luxury at Chalet Sapphire in Morzine

Freelance writer Bethan Andrews couldn’t believe her lucky when she was invited by us to review a brand new concept chalet in Morzine, complete with Bamford Spa.

Here’s Bethans take on her fully catered stay organised by The Chalet Edit at Chalet Sapphire in Morzine.

Put me in the snow, on the slopes and surrounded by mountains of fun (quite literally) and I am a happy bunny. As someone who lives for action sports and any sporting activity that puts me in connection with nature, I’ve always gone for a very laid-back, back-to-basics vibe when it comes to my personal ski holidays.

Until I had a taste of the Chalet Sapphire experience, that was! I am now entirely converted to the more luxurious way of ski life, especially the addition of a ski concierge to arrange for all my ski equipment to be ferried around to where I want it to be without having to so much as lift a finger. Trust me, it’s a game changer.

For someone with a penchant for unique interior design, the chalet couldn’t fit the brief more. With design led interiors, there is no detail left uncovered at Chalet Sapphire, and anything you wish for you can have arranged for you with minimal disruption or thought from yourself needed.

Our first day out in the fresh and continually falling powder was made all the better by the heated ski boots and being dropped off at the lifts. With a guide to show us around organised by The Chalet Edit, we whizzed around the mountain before stopping for an incredible lunch of authentic tartiflette.

On arrival back to the chalet, we were greeted everyday by an incredible afternoon tea spread to rejuvenate and tide us over until dinner. Energy levels replenished and the pick of late afternoon activity is yours.

Choose from lounging around with a glass of fizz in the infinity hot tub overlooking the slopes, checking out the view in the glass walled hammam, indulging in a restorative swim, ice plunge and sauna before having a Bamford massage from the in-house masseuse, or simply swinging around on one of the many balconies underneath a fur blanket taking in the surroundings.

    Chalet Sapphire, Bamford Spa area

A short hop, skip and a jump across the footbridge and you can be in the quaint town of Morzine. Full to the rafters with traditional alpine architecture, gift shops and places to fill up on fondue and raclette, it is a beautiful place. But there are also a lot of cool bars popping up, vegan hotspots and not to mention the new La Folie Douce in Avoriaz perfect for lively apres ski.

The ski areas was fantastic for our mixed level group with so much terrain to cover and plenty to do. We skied Les Gets on the first day dining in cosy rustic Vaffieu Restaurant and Avoriaz on day two, where we skied directly into the ‘Goat Village’ in Avoriaz to dine on the terrace of a local goat herding hut at Restaurant La Crémaillère, all organised in advance by The Chalet Edit.

Chalet Sapphire, view of Morzine & footbridge

Chalet Sapphire operates in such a modern laid-back fashion. It is in no way stuffy, uptight, or too in your face when it comes to its hospitality. In fact, it still manages to maintain a homely feel despite its five-star status.
Back at Chalet Sapphire the evening meals are second to none and deserve not to be missed. As part of the stay, I was lucky enough to experience their Kaiseki concept, a Japanese fusion tasting menu made up of five to ten dishes based around the Kaiseki principles all with paired local wines and aperitifs.

    Chalet Sapphire, Kaiseki dining

Bedtime arrives and is very welcoming indeed due to the sheer beauty of the bedrooms in this place. Think a combination of scandi and alpine interiors, combined with modern touches and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect here.

But as luxurious as that all sounds (there really are no compromises here), the winning formula is the way in which Chalet Sapphire operates in such a modern laid-back fashion. It is in no way stuffy, uptight, or too in your face when it comes to its hospitality manner. In fact, quite the contrary, and despite everything being offered to you and the entire experience allowing you to want for nothing, it feels as though you are in your own home, but masqueraded as a five star hotel. There when you need them, and not when you don’t – the utterly charming staff from all over the globe really have got it just right here.

I’m counting down the days for another lucky invite already…

GO ICE-KARTING – Go-karting on ice!
TRY YOUR HAND AT ICE SKATING – Enjoy the beautiful mountain views whilst playing around on some skates.  The outdoor ice-rink in Val d’Isere is open from 15:00-20:00 every day and is a fun thing to do with the family.
PARAGLIDING OVER THE VILLAGE – Val d’Isere is superb for paragliders and a great place to learn how to fly if you’ve never tried paragliding before. There are several clubs and organisations in the area.  Glide down to your destination on a tandem paraglider controlled by the instructor as you enjoy the ride and fantastic views. Flights can be undertaken solo for qualified paragliders or with prior training from a qualified instructor.
TAKE OFF ON A HELICOPTER FLIGHT – Still flying high?  There are a range of scenic helicopter flights over the Alps summits, exploring peaks like Mont Blanc, La Grande Casse and Les Ecrins.  Take a 30-minute Heart of the Alps trip or the Mont Blanc tour which takes an hour. You can also book the helicopter for airport transfers and trips to the best restaurants in the area!
DINE ON THE MOUNTAINS – With its stylish décor of white enamel milk churns, exposed zinc pipework, antique tiling and dairy-styled fittings and furnishings, La Fruitiere has a special atmosphere.  Easily accessible by Gondola, the menu is rich in locally produced foods and Savoyard delicacies.
APRES SKI AT THE FOLIE DOUCE – Party on the Pistes – just because you’re not skiing doesn’t mean you can’t join the open air party.  From 2pm when the weather is good see live musicians and soak up the apres ski party atmosphere.
MAKE A SPLASH IN THE AQUASPORTIF CENTRE – The swimming pool and sports centre in Val d’Isere offer swimming, climbing, gym/fitness, squash, indoor football, volleyball, a children’s play area and more.  It is split into five main areas – Beach World, Spa World, Sports World, Well-being World and Lounge World. There is something for everyone!
INDULGE IN A SPA TREATMENT – There are plenty of places for a pamper in Val d’Isere. Right in the centre of town and offering plenty of different treatments is Aigle des Neiges Spa.  The hotel spa is a haven of peace with a wide range of facilities to help you truly unwind.
MASSAGE AWAY ACHES AND PAINS – If your chalet doesn’t come with a spa, book Progression Therapies for a fabulous massage and range of treatments to help keep you looking – and feeling – amazing!  Best of all, you don’t have to leave the comfort of your chalet if you don’t want to as they’ll come direct to you.

  • Val d’Isere Off-Piste by Expert Guide Christophe Kern

Local High Mountain Guide & off-piste expert Christophe Kern reveals the inside-scoop on his favorite ski resort, Val d’Isere. From his ‘must try’ off-piste ski spots to the best on mountain restaurants.

With over 25 years as one of the best high mountain guides in Europe Christophe Kern certainly knows his stuff! Christophe is partnered with one of Val d’Iseres finest ski & snowboard schools ‘Progression’ and is available throughout the season to build clients confidence and guide them to the best off-piste routes in the vast Espace Killy.

“For me skiing is an activity of elegance, that integrates the values of pleasure and safety”. Christophe says.

His aim is to ensure every day is a success and build self-confidence, with routes adapted to an individual’s skill, abilities and needs. What’s more it’s all set at your own pace, so you can discover the finest off-piste at your own rhythm, whilst learning how to read the terrain and snow.

    CHRISTOPHE’S FAVOURITE OFF-PISTE SKI SPOTS IN VAL D’ISERE :

The Espace Killy is a vast and varied ski area with plenty to discover and miles of beautiful quiet off-piste skiing. Christophe likes to start the discovery of the domain by the quiet slopes of the glacier of Pisaillas near the Fornet end of the Val d’Isere Valley and the Pays Desert. After that he can share the little secrets of the Fonds des Fours near the col of Cugnai at the top of the Solaise ski area.

If everybody is fit enough, the challenge is to ski long powder runs around the Signal and the col Pers in the Fornet area, according to Christophe these runs are among the most beautiful descents in the Alps.

    The Best Lunch Stops:

“In few words, good time and good food, is what is the most important” says Christophe.

He has recommended several of his favorite places to stop for a hearty lunch. Each with a different location, stunning views, wonderful friendly service, ‘a la carte’ menus and a selection of delicious wine.

Atelier d’Edmond – in the Fornet.   Ranked number 1 restaurant in all of Val d’Isere on trip advisor, Atelier d’Edmond offers a delicious a la carte menu and rustic setting with friendly service.

The Edelweiss – near the Fornet.  From their tartiflette to seafood pasta this cosy chalet offers the perfect warming lunch

La Peau de Vache – on the Face of Bellevarde.  A gorgeous piste side restaurant offering huge burgers, steak and more.

Panoramic – Tignes , La Grande Motte.   Views of Mont Blanc, lots of options for lunch, from their a la carte restaurant or they have a self service option as well.

    What’s on offer:

Val d’Isere off-piste is a must try experience and Christophe can be your exclusive guide from 1 to 5 days. What’s more to keep the peace of the mountains he does not like to offer helicopter drops, so the ‘free rando’ or any hiking up the mountain is done on foot.

Powder hungry clients can choose from a range of fantastic options including:

First powder tracks – For beginners wanting to discover the mountain this winter

Ski Adventure Family (from 12 years) – Conviviality and good times shared

Off-piste / Free Ride – In search of the best snow in the resort

Freerando – Enjoy some short climbs on skins to find the best descents

Ski Touring – To go beyond the domain and enjoy the wilderness to be found there

Haute Route Expéditions – Chamonix-Zermatt, Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso, Écrins National Park
